The clock is ticking fast....the calendar pages are running thin.....i still remember the same time last year, I was just starting to research and plan my wedding....oh well, in about 10 days time, I am having my actual wedding!
I can't believe time flies sooooooo FAST... another new year is just round the corner. Me have been thinking. Now that I don't work.....I have alot of time to think. Sometimes, I reckon I must think so hard....my hair would turn grey....but then, I think I have good genes or my thoughts are so trival....my body is not reacting to it.
I think I am very blessed. 2006 have been such an eventful year and have shown me the wonderful people I have in my life. I am very thankful, for these people have been placed specially in mine and their lives. As this year comes to an end, I remember these beautiful people:
The gals in Sg: Thanks for making effort to spend time with me whenever I'm back. Those nights having coffee and dinners.....too good to forget! Come to think of it....isn't it special that we have known and hung out with one another for 10 years? It's bloody long time!
Nic: He wants to be known as Ruen but as I said before, can't change the tongue which has been calling u Nic for almost 10 yrs! Thanks for helping me with my wedding....sad that you can't make it to the actual day on the 27 dec but I know you will be there on the 8 Feb!
The gals in Perth: Hey! Hey! Hey! We have bloody good outings! Fabulous food each time and lotsa fun and joy! Thanks for your friendship. I'm sure me as your social director, we will have more yumo food outings in the brand new year!
My ex-uni friends: Oh boy! Though we are all continents apart now.....those wonderful memories we have of our uni-days have bonded us together. Thanks for keeping in touch and I know we will continue to do so... :)
The beautiful people I met in Terry Tyzack's gym: The best fitness instructor - Carolyn, I ever met in my life; such motivation and dedication cannot be bought with a luxury club membership. Your motivation has made me come back for more, and I know my fitness well-being is the result of your work.
Dien's family: Well, all of you have been so kind to me from day 1. I am so lucky to be part of this family.
My family: Huh....my parents said I'm the "ma-fan" (troublesome) one....must have my own ways all the time. Thanks for being there for me....and my brother, thanks bro!
Dien: Hmm, I think that he is the top of the top 3 persons who has to put up with my all nonsense! His kindness and generosity in all ways.....thanks darling!
All other friends that haven't been mentioned: U know who u r....thanks for playing a role in my little life. I cherish our friendships and liked I said....we don't just bump into one another....it is by God's grace that we meet.
Most important of all: Thank you God for giving me such a wonderful year of 2006. All the laughter and tears....they have made me a stronger person. Your wonderful love and grace and you always so magnanimous with your providence. Thank you Lord!
I wish all my friends and everyone out there to have a wonderful holiday season. May all have a blessed Christmas and a great New Year.
Love,
Sylvia

Counting down...
I think today is an appropriate day to start my counting down....
- 20 days to my wedding.
- 2 weeks prior to the arrival of my overseas guests. Commencement of my airport shuttle.
My expectation? I hope everything will go smoothly on the day itself. Everyone to have a good time and lotsa of fun, including myself!!!
Time really flies....2006 is coming to an end.
My achievement for 2006? I got married before the year ends, before I turned 30... would this be considered as an achievement?
What about 2007????????

A time for everything
Today I read the daily bread and it has a passage on one of my favourite reading. A passage that I can remember by heart - Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8.
There is a time for everything. For me at the moment....I think it's time to play tour guide and come up with itinararies for my friends and families visiting me in a few weeks time when they fly in to attend our wedding.
Oh God....this is a much more stressful task than putting the entire wedding together.
Throughout this process, I have encountered the most bizzard situations that I can remember.
1) My dad (of all people!!!) asked me if I would be driving them on the wedding day. OMG!!!!!!! has anyone out there ever see the BRIDE driving herself or her guests to the wedding venue on HER wedding day?????
2) Everyone is relying on me to plan their activities while they are here! What happen to travel guide books? Are they no longer in publication??? I thought I would play more of a consultant role in recommendations.....does that include planning (in extremely fine prints)!!!!!!!
3) I have "vommited more blood" and "speak till my throat dry" than ever.....Dien's parents were writing the invitation cards tonight and guess what? The RSVP date on the card is 15 Oct. I wonder if anyone who reads English is gonna find me as the S.T.U.P.I.D bitch who can't organise or can't get the print on the card done properly.
4) My dad just asked me if how many of Dien's family is attending our wedding banquet in Singapore.....I told him that I no longer have that sort of energy to ask his parents as everytime I do ask....the answer is always...."we will confirm later!!!"........argh!!!! *puke* *another bucket of blood* (i think i'm drained and dried)
Hmm, I think I shouldn't go on with the bizzard list.......it's not going to end....
At least I'm proud of what I did tonight.....I told my parents that I have resigned from my job. Their reactions? Slightly better than what I have imagined. Give yourself a pat, Sylvia : )
A time for everything.....Now....it's the time for wogi wogi.....

My 1st Wedding Pressie : )
I have received my 1st wedding pressie! Oh, it came very unexpected.....Thank You Spice Mama Crystal!
SMS : Texted 17 Nov..... to check my e-mail for details to pick up my early pressie. : )
Message : To pick up from Crown Plaza hotel from 20 Nov onwards. Spice Mama's colleague - Mo Ramli, is coming to Perth for work.....he is very kind to bring a package for her. : ) Package has been left at Concierge Desk for pick-up.
Drama: I went to Crown Plaza on the 22 Nov (Tue) to pick up my package. Spoke to Guy A at the Concierge Desk and informed him of my intention. He was on the phone and I have been asked to wait for a sec. A porter came to the desk...this time, Guy A asked the porter to assist me to locate my package. Porter looked around the Concierge Desk - nope...nothing for me. So Guy A asked porter to check with Reception if they are holding a package for pick up.....Nope - none from Reception as checked. Then I got questioned by Guy A if I came to the right place/know more details of the guest. I showed both Guy A and the porter the sms I received from Crystal's colleague. And I said to them, this is the only details I've got and isn't this the one and only Crown Plaza in Perth??? Hold my cool......I said to myself. Then Guy A said he will check in the storage room if the package is in there.....Good...Do it! He came out with a shake of his head.....
Oh I am sooo fuming!!!!! He is telling me there isn't anything for me. I questioned him back this time. I asked him don't he has a Concierge Log Book to track all packages??? Hmm, I know such procedures! I had worked at a Concierge Desk for 6 months **[had an aspiration to be a "bell-girl" (equiv to Bell-boy and wear a short short skirt to carry luggages and open car doors] and was in the bloody hotel industry for almost 3 yrs. At this point, the porter came with a brown envelope and asked if that is what I'm after. Of course, it is!!!! Where was it kept? RECEPTION! I said my thanks (as if !!!!) and left. No one asked me to sign for my pick-up.....
It was supposed to be a 2 sec task.
1) Check log book for pick-up and storage location.
2) Go to storage and pick up package.
3) Get guest to sign on log book for acknowledgement and hand over package.
But no....it turned out it took them 15 mins to locate something that is right underneath their nose. Sigh!!!!! And since I didn't sign for the pick-up, maybe I can play punk and rock up at the hotel to "pick-up" again and create a "BIG" scene for losing the package....wahahaha...evil plan. Hehe :P
End of the day : It was a lovely pendant from Spice Mama.....with all those jewellery shopping we did during Pan Pac days....she knows my taste well! Hehe :P
Thanks Spice Mama!!! *muak* I wish you could make it to Perth, but neither one of us has any lotto /toto luck yet. Aiks!
Lots of Love,
Spice Gal
**That aspiration did not come true. I did open doors when I was part-timing at Ritz. As for the short short skirt part....nah, no reputable hotels have adopted that uniform style as yet.

Guilt Free
I have been questioning myself if I have done something wrong. I have been to more than 5 interviews and there were some instances where I thought the job is mine. However, it has turned out the other way all the time.
I have been really bad to myself this whole week. I was angry with myself. I blamed myself of the situation I am in at the moment - left work without another job.
Eunice told me I am the most courageous person who have stood up for myself totally. She has been very encouraging. Me, on the other hand have been negative than ever. I can't allow myself to relax. I have been tensed for the past 7 days.
I have been praying and asking many questions. I have received my answer. I was reading Our Daily Bread. The passage for today 19/11/06 is as if the answer I am waiting for.
This break (unemployment) is a God's gift. Me, should and can let myself enjoy without guilt the good things He sends my way.
"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment." - 1 Timothy 6:17
I should and must not feel guilty. I should and must stop reprimanding myself. I should let go and enjoy this time while I can. I must give thanks for this gift bestows onto me.
Thank you Lord.

L-Plater
This is how I have been feeling for the past 1 week. A Learner
Learning to relax my mind and body and not getting uptight or angry with myself for not knowing what to do next.
Learning to see and have Dien 24-7, even though I would prefer to see him once in the morning and then in the evening when i return home from work.
Learning to trust God. Eunice has just reminded me tonight of the passage on 2 Corinthians. Yes, I may have been praying and asking....maybe I haven't been trusting enough.
Learning to explore myself. What else am I good at? What do I want to do? What are my long term goals?
Learning so that my brain stay active. I think since I stopped work, my brain seems to be slower and retarded. I feel stupid. Maybe I have fallen into the dumbo category.
Argh!!!!! This one week has been a roller-coaster filled with different emotions for me. I hope I won't drive meself crazy and insane. Maybe I just need to learn one thing - seek God and trust Him.

New Ballistic Gal...
Most of my friends know that I'm a lady of leisure at the moment...till I find my next job :P I started my un-employment this week. My body and mind have a major adjustment on Monday's morning to wake up to nothing. It was quite depressing to be at home while the rest of the world is busy moving away.
It wasn't too long till Dien suggested we go shooting. Hmm, the term shooting does sound abit frightening. But I was so bored, I was ready to get into any action....Bring it On! So we went and arrived in Lone Ranges Shooting Complex in Belmont. When we entered the place, everywhere is filled with guns and knives. It looks rather intimidating - according to Dien. We got ourselves registered and we would have a quick lesson on guns & shooting.
I held a gun in my hands for the first time in my 29 years of living. Oh my gosh! It's damn heavy! hahaha.....We were shown a revolver and a semi-automatic hand gun and taught how to hold a gun without injuring yourself. Our "teacher" Trevor is really a funny bloke. He made the lesson so fun and of course, remembering what you shouldn't do when shooting. He reminded me that I'm not allowed to shoot Dien. Aiks!
We went into the shooting booth. Beware! This is where live firing is happening! We have our ears and eyes protection gears on and we are ready to ROCK! Dien went 1st. He put up his 1st target sheet, loaded the semi-auto with .22 ammunition (10 rounds each load), hold it firmly, aim and shoot! Bang! Bang! Bang!.....
It's my turn next. I have the CSI image in my head....hahahaha (funny!!!) How about I'm the one who does test fire shots to match the weapon found as the weapon used in the murder case? Wahahahahaha.....*lol* I shot my 1st round.....pull back the target sheet .....and guess what? I did better than Dien in my 1st round! TOUCHDOWN!!!!!
It was really good fun...this might be my new found hobby....I want to go back to the shooting range soon....
When I get better, I'm going to walk into the shooting range with my CSI T-shirt. Just watch me...I might be as good as Calleigh Duquesne from CSI:Miami....the ballistic gal!

True Victory
I read this passage when I'm doing my quiet time today. It makes me ponder and give thanks.
http://www.rbc.org/odb/odb-11-13-06.shtml
2 Corinthians 4: 7-18 (NIV)
7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. 12So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
13It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, 14because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. 15All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

但原人长久 (Wishing We Last Forever)
[Translation]
The moon, how old is it?
I hold the cup and ask the clear blue sky
But I don't know, in palaces up there
When is tonight?
If only I could ride the wind and see
But no, jade towers
So high up, might be too cold
For dancing with my shadow
How could there, be like here?
Turning in the red chamber
Beneath the carved window
The brightness baffles sleep
But why complain
The moon is always full at parting
A man knows grief and joy, separation and reunion
The moon, clouds and fair skies, waxing and waning
And old story, this struggle for perfection!
Here's to long life
This loveliness we share even a thousand miles apart
By: Su Shi (Su Dong Bo) 1037-1101
I found this translation on the internet, hope it makes some sense to those who can't read Chinese. Su Shi is a poet during the Song Dynasty. He composed this poem while drinking (probably drunk), thinking of his lover. Wondering when they will meet again.
This is one of those Chinese poems that I can remember by heart and one of my favourites. Do you even wonder how the ancient scholars composed such beautiful pieces? Why is it we in the year 2006 dwell in Eminem's raps about love and society? Is this what we call "Evolution"?

Egg-pression: Egg - 鸡蛋 - Tamago - Oeuf
Egg is one of my favourite food.
I love steamed egg with mince, chawanmushi(Jap steam egg), omelette, boiled egg dipped in dark soya sauce, braised egg with meat, egg sandwich with lotsa tomato ketchup, sunny-side up egg, and I can go on and on and on..... :P
So how do you eat your sunny side-up?
I came across this "analysis" which I find really interesting.
You are logical and smart. You are good at sizing up other people. You like to make friends. Be careful of a tendency to sometimes act cold or selfish. You're great at thinking up excuses when you tick somebody off! Sometimes you're a bit too quick to judge, but in general you have good social skills.
You are influenced a lot by others. You find it very hard to say "No" to people, especially when you are pushed. You are a sweet and caring person. Your friendships are close and you are a loyal pal. Quite often, you are taken advantage of because of your nice nature. Being giving is good, but remember to stand up for yourself.
You have very strong opinions about things. A lot of times, this causes you to disagree with other people's ideas and feelings. You question authority and it's normal for you to challenge social rules and regulations. Being
I eat my egg white first, saving the yolk for last. The yolk must be whole and not broken. I put the yolk into my mouth and break it gently, savouring the yolk by letting it tinger down my throat. Mmmm......Yum!
Does the analysis tell much about me? Nah...not really. What do you guys think?

The end but also a new beginning
Today is a very emotional day for me. It is my last day at work. I have been there for the past 2 years, a place where I have spent more time than home. A place for social fellowship.
Today, a cosy group of colleagues crowded together to say their thanks and good byes....I am a very emotional person, a person who can tears easily especially when watching telly.....that's why I do not want a formal farewell. However, this little cosy group of people are people whom I have worked closely with and people whom I will remember for a very long long time.
Lovely Eunice gave a speech....needless to say...me the useless one tears in seconds....(oh! I hate farewell!) They presented a little token of appreciation.....which I know comes from the bottom of their hearts. Their greatful thoughts are worth more than anything. I thank them all.
These are some of the memorable characters at work...
1) Eunice : The lovely Credit Manager. I know her for only a year. She is very kind and motherly and full of encouragement. I am so glad to know her as a friend.
2) Iris : She needs to take her medication regularly....otherwise, her funny insanity will appear from nowhere. She loves food....just liked me!
3) John : Scottish Bloke. We both started on the same day 2 years ago. We both love the Japanese footballers. We think Nakata and Nakamura rule!
4) The funny boys - Joe, Young Phil & Michael : Oh...they sure can yak....yakity yak! their favourite question, "can you introduce me some rich women?" they have brought along alot of laughters!
5) Bowling Phil : He knows all the pubs in Australia. He loves lawn bowling....and of course, the drinks at the bar. Always smiling ........will miss his warm charming character.
6) The kind ladies - Winnie, Sheryl and Carol : Always so quiet working away....but have a great sense of humour. The funny remarks always come so unexpected. This is what you would describe as a "Gentle Surprise".
Although this is an end to a chapter but I see it as a new beginning....a new beginning to a new adventure that I seek. Look no more, it might not be too far away.
Oh! I think I am such a lucky duck! : ) Quake! Quake!

Pour Que Tu'Aimes Encore (For you to still love me)
this is another of my favourite. it's a french song by celine dion. many of us know celine dion by her popular english ballads.....such as...do i need to spell it out???? (oh gosh! all right..."My heart will go on" etc, etc, etc)
well, she sings french. i enjoy this song. it really tested all those french i learnt in alliance francaise to understand the meaning of this song. i think i've got the gist of it (please do not laugh! i can hear you!!!! :P)
anyway, tonight is movie and music nite. i saw one of my favourite nicolas cage's movie - "matchstick men" on tv. it would be a much greater experience if the tv channels can eliminate all commercials so that you can truly enjoy a good movie. just imagine a 1.75 hrs movies to be watched in 2.5 hrs. so much time wasted! will australia ever have TIVO?
i am playing one of celine dion's french album now. i love the language. it sounds beautiful, even when you are swearing! all my friends are taught the famous pick-up line..."voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir?" [translated: "would you like to go to bed with me tonight?"] yes, i taught all my friends this pick-up line....that's why i used to have the "reputation" to hook up some rich good looking frenchmen! hahahahahaha......oh gosh...my toes are having a fit!
my french class days were great! i was the youngest student in the class. i was a full-time student doing my 'a' levels at that time. i rushed from school to alliance francise, the bloody bus trip took 1 hrs to get into town! i'm always late for french class, i never do my homework, dozing off in class - can't blame me after attending classes for 1 full day and having to concentrate in french at 6.30pm in the evening was just a bit too much.....
my professor, jean-marc, was always angry at me for not doing my homework....thankfully, i had really nice classmates...they let me copied their answers or they just whispered me answers when jean-marc asked me a question! i made a good friend from french class - Pei Hui.
we are still friends. (we have known each other for 13 yrs) in the end, she is the one who hooked up a french man. she is married to one, in fact. Philippe is really a gentil man. i happy for Pei Hui :-) of course, Pei Hui is still learning french....she has a reason to....as for me, french lesson is watching french movies on sbs.
i have an entangled affair with french. i can't get out of this affair....nope, i allow myself to be drown in this affair. it's mysterious.
A Bientot...

a new voice
my good friend Nic, now known as Ruen, is compiling the music for my wedding reception. he is the creative and artistic person. needless to say, he is the designer of my wedding invitation card.
Nic, which I prefer to call him (we have known each other for 10 yrs and after calling him Nic for the past 9 yrs, it's so hard to call him by Ruen overnight!), was telling me of a jazz singer whom he thinks her music would be very suitable for a summer daytime reception.
her name is Lisa Ekdahl, which i would be listening out for her more often. she is swedish and has such a lovely angelic voice. i heard her song "Daybreak". it was lovely. liked what Nic said, her music would be very appropriate for a summery wedding. i can just imagine the atmosphere right now....(dreaming...)
the song lyrics are just beautiful...thought I'd share with all my friends.
DAYBREAK
Daybreak
And the moon's still floating high
What a wonderful surprise
I close my eyes
And dream of you
I'm dreaming at daybreak
And the world's so far behind
That's why i always find
At daybreak
I'm still dreaming of you
You're from above
My one and only lover
There's no other
At daybreak
All i want is you forever
That's why it's true whenever daybreaks
I'm still dreaming of you

The Pre-Wedding Process
Everything is under control... I would say 90% of our planning is completed. The rest are stuffs that you need to do nearer to date. Getting Dien to shop for his suit is the most difficult task in the entire planning process. Why is it sooooo HARD to get a man into the shops?
Shopping is such as wonderful pastime. It trains your eyes to look out for the best, your stamina and leg power. If you want those slender legs, instead of walking on the treadmill (boring!!!), why not hit the hall for the whole afternoon. Man must need to understand that shopping can be as exhaustive as working out in the gym!
And so he has gone to DJ after my insistence and voila! we found 2 really nice styles. Oh well, designer suits always look good. I like Hugo Boss, he likes Armani. But both doesn't have the size to fit him well. Every sizes on the shelves are big sizes. I think he would go with the Armani. The sales assistant at Hugo Boss's counter was trying to get him to buy a bigger size and alter it. Obviously, he just wants the sales. What an idiot! However, the Armani's assistant was very kind to suggest a transfer of a smaller size from another store so that he can try a better fit. He said something which I wished the Hugo Boss assistant heard. He said "You are paying so much for a pair of suit and you would want a good fit without much alteration. " Hah! Exactly my sentiments!
So back to me. I had my makeup and hair trial last sunday. It was a fun! fun! fun! experience! I have found a makeup artist whom I thought she is really good but turned out....hmm, mediocre. And so it made my hair-stylist fussing around me. He said he must make me prettier. He called his own makeup artist (which I should have known earlier) to "touch me up". Amazing transformation! My first look looked liked I just got back from a beach holiday - dark, tanned. But my new look looked more liked a bride. (Is there such a style??) His words were true! He is wonderful....cannot complained. He gave me 3 hair styles options to choose....that makes my job "difficult" 2 of them are pretty similar - either a high bun or low bun. The other style looks different.
So which one looks better? The score so far? 4-2 . Hairstyle #1 is still the favourite. As for me? I'm racking my brain....

28 Oct Extras! Extras!

A Special Saturday - 28 Oct....
I discovered a Willy Wag-Tail nest in my backyard some weeks ago.....have to be very cautious with this little bird. Well, after have been pecked by this little bird a few years ago, I know I have to run fast if it is heading straight in your direction! Back to the nest's story...so as I said, there is this nest on the pillar of our backyard. Today, I discovered not one, not two but three small hairy heads with tiny beaks were sticking out of the nest! We have new members in the family!!!
So excited when I saw the little ones....as if I was the mother.....hahahaha *lol* So I ran for my digi cam and started snapping pictures from the laundry door.....I reckon it wont be a good idea to be near the nest as the "Mummy" bird is watching me. Oh they are soooooo cute.....all they do is open their mouth wide, waiting to be fed....chip! chip! chip! chip! soft chippy sound they make...what a wonderful sight. : )
I bought my Nokia 6280 for a while now. In fact it has been almost 4 months and all I have been using is the phone and sms functions! I haven't been playing with it enough. I know I can do heaps with the phone but always so lazy to get started.
I did today!!! I did it!!!! I got my mobile connected to my laptop....I downloaded some pics to my phone....and I know how to transfer music to my phone too.....YeeHA! Am I a legend or what! Hehehe :P So excited now......now I have something to show off to Dien tomorrow....hehehe :D

The Beginning...
I must admit...It took me so long to get this blog started. It has been a long process of contemplation and here I am......writing. : )
I have been living in Perth for almost 5 years now and being a continent away from my friends and family....I find that sometimes news travel slow, even with broadband connection. Every individual is in their own little world.....so by the time friends meet up to share their updates, news is no longer new....I thought it would be brilliant if I could just share everything that is happening in my little life and my friends and family can log on at their leisure to "check on me" heheheh :P
C'est La Vie....very frenchy....so typical of Sylvia right? Forever dreaming of hooking up with some rich french man...hahaha.....that dream has vanished long ago.....My definition of life now is to enjoy and cherish while you can. C'est La Vie means This is Life in french. Life is made up of good and bad, laughters and tears, Ups and Downs.....so will be my blog......the dramas in my little life.
So let it begins......let the drums roll, curtains unfold.....Presenting Hui20nine.
